Summer sure seems to be here in Colorado, and with that the heat is turning up! I’m so grateful to be escaping the city this weekend for a short retreat with a girlfriend up at Shambala Mountain Center. It’s been on my bucket list for years, and after she invited me earlier this year to join her and some awesome ladies for a couple days of writing, yoga and reflection, I couldn’t pass it up.
As women, we spend a lot of time juggling multiple roles – daughter, sister, partner, mom, CEO, employee, etc – and it can wear us out. So many of my clients talk about the importance of their girlfriends in life. Girlfriends are our chosen family, the ones we get to choose to be with, outside of other life obligations. Research has shown that having healthy, fun and supportive relationships decreases stress, improves quality of life, and gives us a sense of meaning and connection. As a woman, and a Denver women’s counselor, I know firsthand the struggles that women go through on a day-in, day-out basis. As much as we might love and appreciate the men in our lives, there’s something about a great girlfriend that just gets it to boost our mood and improve our happiness.
If you’re looking for ways to connect on a deeper level with other women, working with a trained Denver women’s counselor can help. Some of us have anxiety or fears that prevent us from getting close in relationships, some women may struggle to trust other women due to abandonment or betrayal. Building healthy female friendships with other healthy women can do wonders for our mood and outlook on life. Give us a call at (720) 363-9188, or Book Online Now!
