What Does Anxiety Feel Like?

Happy Friday, ladies! Looks like we may be getting our last (?) big snow of the season this weekend, woot! As I write this up in the mountains, it’s just starting to come down outside, a stark change to the 70-something degrees we’ve had in the city the last couple weeks!

Today I had a chance to catch an awesome yoga class with a friend whom I ADORE. We picked out one specifically for where we’re both at today…kind of tired, sore, needy to slooowww wayyyy down. Afterwards at lunch, we talked about what anxiety feels like PHYSICALLY in our bodies as women. Ugh! For many, it shows up as:

  • racing heart
  • feeling out of breath
  • feeling “spacey” and not really “here”
  • tightness in our muscles and joints
  • lack of hunger or insatiable hunger
  • difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • headaches
  • weird periods
  • the list goes on and on…

We both acknowledged how much it helps us to manage our anxiety when we do things that feel GOOD for our bodies, and our minds.
